Maintain blood sugar level: makes pancreatic juice -helps neutralize stomach acid.
Pancreas
A juice produced by the liver; helps break down fats
Bile
A storage place for bile juice; absorbs vitamins
Gallbladder
Organ that produces bile juice to help in digestion
Liver
22 feet long (nickname-small bowel) small tube leading from the stomach
Small intestine
First section of the small intestine. Bile and pancreatic juice dump here to help digest food
Duodenum
A rhythmic contraction of the tubed from esophagus to the anus
Peristalsis
Middle section of the small intestine. Absorption of small molecules
Jejunum
Finger-like protrusion in the small intestine that helps absorb nutrients from the food
Vili
Last section of the small intestine. Absorption of nutrients.
Ileum
Bacteria storage pouch; located where small and large intestine meet
Appendix
First colon pouch to receive undigested food
Caecum
5 feet long. Another name for Large intestine
Colon
Absorbing remaining water; squeezing leftover water out of feces
