Role of bile

A

It’s alkaline so it neutralises the HCl in the stomach, making the optimum conditions for the enzymes in the small intestine

It also emulsifies lipids by converting larger droplets to smaller ones, increasing the surface area for lipase enzymes to work on → increasing rate of digestion
