What enzymes do the salivary glands produce?
Amylase in saliva
What happens at the liver?
bile is produced which emulsifies fats and neutralises stomach acid
What happens at the stomach?
pummels food with muscular walls and produces hydrochloric acid to kill bacteria and give the correct pH (2)
What enzymes are produced in the stomach?
protease.
What happens at the gall bladder?
Bile is stored before it is released into the small intestine
What enzymes are produced at the pancreas?
protease, amylase and lipase
What enzymes are produced in the small intestines?
protease, amylase and lipase
What happens at the small intestines?
digested food is absorbed into the blood stream
What happens at the large intestines?
excess water is absorbed
What happens at the rectum?
faeces are stored before they go to the anus
