What happens in the stomach?

A

Acids start to break down proteins, proteases start to break down proteins. The muscular walls contract to mixing the food with the digestive juices.

What appens in the small intestine?

A

Food is mixed with bile (from the liver) and digestive enzymes from the pancreas. This digests food into small soluble molecules that can be absorbed through the walls of the intestine into the blood.
