What is the summary offences and where are they brought too
They are the least serious offences e.g. driving offences, common assault, minor crimes damage, they are brought to the magistrate
What are triable - either way offences and where are they brought too
Middle range crimes can either be tried in either the magistrates or the crown court e.g. assault with bad harm
Indictable offences
Most serious always tried at the crown court
What is the order of offences in order of magnitude (least to most)
Summary, triable-either-way and Indictable
Who is the DPP and what do they do
Our current DPP is Max Hill and he is the director of public Prosecutions.
What is a category 1 offence
The worst type of offences being great harm and (probably) fully intentional.
Category 3 offence
Basically nothing being the weakest and least important
