Life-threatening causes

* Myocardial infarction
* (Tension) pneumothorax
* Acute coronary syndrome
* Pericardial effusion/cardiac tamponade
* Aortic dissection
* Pulmonary embolism
* Sickle-cell crisis
Common:
myocardial infarction
acute coronary syndromes
angina
pulmonary embolism
musculoskeletal
pneumonia
pneumothorax (tension or simple)
pericarditis
reflux and peptic ulcer disease

uncommon
aortic dissection, cardiac tamponade, sickle-cell crisis

Tachyarrhythmia emergency

A

Life-threatening causes

* Ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF)
* Torsades de pointes
* Supraventricular tachycardia with haemody-namic compromise
* Fast atrial fibrilla-tion/flutter with haemodynamic compromise

• Sinus tachycardia  secondary to shock, including PE iatrogenic (drugs)
