Hyperthyroidism, heart valve disease, CAD, cardiomyopathy, COPD, asthma, excessive alcohol consumption, obstructive sleep apnea, cigarette or stimulant use, periods of extreme stress or fatigue can trigger episodes of AF, family history (idiopathic atrial fibrillation), PE, sepsis
