Different Stores of Energy Flashcards
Name the different stores of energy.
Kinetic, Chemical, Gravitational, Elastic, Thermal, Magnetic, Electrostatic, Nuclear and Vibrational.
Describe Kinetic Energy.
Anything that moves has energy in its’ kinetic energy store.
Describe Chemical Energy.
Anything with energy that can be released through a chemical reaction.
Describe Gravitational Energy.
Anything that has a gravitational field (i.e anything that can fall) has a energy in its’ gravitational energy store.
Describe Elastic Energy.
Anything that is stretched has energy in its elastic energy store.
Describe Thermal Energy.
Everything has some energy in its thermal energy store.
The hotter it is, the higher its temperature and the more energy it has in its thermal energy store.
Describe Magnetic Energy.
Anything that attracts or repels has energy in its magnetic energy store.
Describe Electrostatic Energy.
Two electrical charges that attract. or repel each other have energy in their electrostatic energy stores.
Describe Nuclear Energy.
Anything with energy that can be released through radio-active decay, fission or fusion.
Describe Vibrational Energy.
Energy from vibrations moving to and fro.
