What is Liberal Feminism?
They have an optimistic view on families and believe men nowadays are more active in housework & childcare. They believe progress is being made in society and starting to become more equal. Less extreme than radical soci feminists and accept males do dominate however there’s more rights for women. Laws such as the sex discrimination act and equal pay act help protect women.
Example sentence: Liberal feminists advocate for gender equality in all aspects of life.
What is Difference Feminism?
These feminists criticize other feminists for assuming all women go through the same thing/experience. They argue that factors such as age, social class, and ethnicity can affect how much respect a woman gets and what they go through, and some experience more inequalities.
Example sentence: Difference feminists highlight the importance of considering intersectionality in understanding women’s experiences.
What is Postmodernism?
Postmodernist sociologists argue that we live in a postmodern society. Unlike modern society (that assumes class identity or common culture), postmodern society is diverse with many different groups such as ethnicity, age, marginality, sexuality, and religion. People are losing traditions, have less religion influence, and have more freedom to pick and choose.
Example sentence: Postmodernists challenge traditional societal norms and emphasize the diversity of modern society.
Functionalism
See society as a human body made up of interrelated parts which function to maintain society , social institutions like family or school meets the social needs of and that it’s made of different organisations that work together and are dependent and this creates harmony on society
Marxism
Argues that there are 2 groups in society :the rich class (owns land and factories) and the working class,they believe society is unfair and that the working class is exploited
Radical feminism
They have a negative view on society as they believe its patriarchal and women don’t benefit from it at all, social institutions like family or marriage is for men and they think divorce or being single or lesbianism is correct
