A

Advantages
- Staying in the comfort of own home
- Dedicated one to one care
- Peace of mind & reduced pressure on family members

Disadvantages
- Can be difficult to find the right carer
- Cost of home modifications e.g. stair lifts or specialist showers.
- Lack of space and privacy as the carer will also be living inside the house.

Advantages

- Meals will be provided, so there is no need to cook their own meals.
- Residents will never be lonely, they can socialise w/ other residents usually in their age groups.

Disadvantages
- Cannot keep pets in care home.
- Feel like they are losing their independence.
- Can feel guilty, when the family have decided to put their loved one in a care home.

A

Similar to care homes as they provide residents support 24/7 but there are nurses on site to provide nursing care.

Advantages
- Able to provide a higher level of medical care
- Provide social activities and a sense of community to residents.
- Fewer demands on family members who may not have the time to care for their relatives

Disadvantages
- Expensive - average cost around £800 a week in the UK.
- Depending on individual’s condition, a nursing home can increase a sense of isolation.
- Quality of nursing homes greatly depends on staff members.
