Control Scope
- PM prevents unnecessary changes from affecting the scope
Perform Integrated Change Control
- PM assess the impact a change has on the project
- All change requests are evaluated during this process
Managing Project Knowledge
- By using knowledge gained from past experiences (PM expertise, existing documents,) a new procedure for controlling project changes in complex project can be made
Monitor Risks
- Ensures that risks are monitored and controlled appropriately
- Ensures that the original project assumptions are still correct
- Assesses identified risks to see if they are still relevant, check to make sure risk management policies are being followed, and that the contingency plan is in line with the current assessments
- Involves executing a contingency plan in the event that an identified risk occurs
- Risk register is update in this process

Reserve Analysis
- Used to determine an appropriate contingency and management reserve to put into place
- Often uses a burndown chart

Project Benefits Management Plan
- Documents the target benefits and strategic alignment
- The business case and needs assessment are both used in developing the project management plan
Project Charter
- Officially authorizes the project when it is signed
- Initiating efforts come before finalizing the charter (Initial project organization, milestones required, project success criteria, and how the scope it to be controlled)
- Part of the Develop Project Charter Process, the assumption log is used to document assumptions that limit the actions of the project team (constraints)
- Interviewing stakeholders to gather high-level requirements is a part of developing the charter
Monitor and Control Project Work
- PM manages how the scope is executed
- Moving personnel around to complete a primary task would happen here
- Where corrective action is tracked as it is implemented
- Responsible for performing corrective actions
- Monitoring involves gathering information about the project’s performance
- Controlling involves taking action to correct problems discovered when monitoring
- Process that oversees the implementation of changes as they are performed

- Responsible for executing approved changes
- Implementation of process improvement activities that have been approved
- Collects project work performance data
Control Quality
- Quality control measurements are one of the outputs
- Documented results of any quality control activities that took place within the quality management process

- Performed by an independent team outside of the project
- Creates process improvement plan
- Based off this information, the first step is performing the process analysis
- Structured reviews that examine whether an organization’s policies and procedures are being applied correctly
