what are the 7 food groups?
fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water and fibre
what is fat needed for?
fast release energy, insulation
what is protein needed for?
growth and repair
what are vitamins and mineral needed for?
hair, nail, bones
what are carbohydrates need for?
slow release energy
what is water needed for?
general hydration
what is fibre needed for?
digestion, prevents constipation
what are the 2 types of carbohydrates?
slowly: pasta, bread
Fast: sugar
what is fat and glucose used for?
fat and glucose are used in cells in the respiration to release energy for movement, growth, temperature regulation etc.
when proteins are digested what do they make?
They make AMINO ACIDS
what are amino acids needed to?
Amino acids are then linked together to make new proteins to build new cells for growth and repair.
What is energy needed for?
for the body to function
what does metabolic rate mean?
it means the speed your metabolism work
what is metabolic rate?
metabolic rate is how quickly chemical reaction occur inside your body cell (how quickly you burn food)
people with a faster metabolic rate….
will gain less weight than people with a slower metabolic rate.
