1. His father was incompetent with money and accumulated lots of debt
2. He moved to London but his father was arrested after for his debts.
3. His mother made him live apart from them and make money by working in a factory. He considered himself too good for this job.

How do parts of Dickens’ life show in the novel? (2)

1. Pip also grew up poor, worked a job he hated, considered himself to good for his surroundings and achieved material success at a young age (like Dickens).
2. Pip was also bad with money and ended up with lots of debts and was almost arrested and taken to debtor’s prison.
