Diastology Flashcards

1
Q

What is the rule with reduced EF?

LA size’s rp;e

A

Immeditaly moves them to abn diastolic function which makes it at thr 4 grades (only have to look at E:A)

Dont need to look at tissue dopplar

LAE means some higher pressures seen in the past.

Q

5 things one can look at for diastology

A
  1. Mitral inflow E:A (most important, and if reduced EF all you need to look at)
  2. Pulmonary Veins
  3. Dynamic changes
  4. Tissue Dopplar
  5. LA size

(there is also diastoli strain fyi)

Q

First thing really used to assess diastology aside from mitral inflow

3 wave forms of it

How did this perform?

A

Pulmonry veins

Big peak, smaller peak (kind of like E to A but called A and B and then a downward peak called D

Terribly, atrial duration correlates better.

  • too hard

Q

What is the thought process for E to e’ ratio

A

For normal and grade one the E and E’ as well as A and A’ mirror each other not until you get to grade two and grade 3 does the E/E’ go way up if there is increased filling pressures. see figure. e’is the divisor (numerator_)so the ratio goes up if it gets small
