Brown-Sequard

A

(Hemi-section of cord)

  • ipsilateral paralysis, loss of position sense, and loss of discriminative touch
  • Contralateral loss of pain, and thermal sense

Anterior cord

A
  • bilaterally below level of lesion: motor function, pain, pinprick, and temperature
  • preserved: proprioception and light touch

A
  • results in proprioceptive loss
  • preserved: pain, temperature, touch

A

Deep Vein Thrombosis

A

Inflammation of a vein in association with the formation of thrombus; usually in LE’s

  • CVA, prolonged bed rest
  • **Signs and Symptoms: may be asymptomatic at first; progressive inflammation with tenderness to palpation; change in LE’s temperature; color circumference; appearance of tenderness or pain;
  • ***Requires immediate medical attention; can be life threatening
