What is non specific spinal pain?

A

Mechanical;
pain occuring primarily in back with no signs of serious underlying condition (eg cancer, infection, cauda equina syndrome), spinal stenosis or radiculopathy or another specific spinal cause (such as vertebral compression or ankylosing spondylytis)

How can diagnosis of non specific pain be made?

A
  • Hx of symptom on set and progression
  • location, nature and behaviour of symptoms
    P/E : identification between spinal movement/posture and symptoms (pain)
    identification of clinical signs relevant to symptoms eg PAIVMS, PPIVMS

Radiological imaging

Medical investigations and opinions

Exclusion of other causes
