foot problems due to combination of infection, neuropathy and ischaemia leading to tissue ulceration, necrosis and gangrene

A
pyrexia tachycardia tachypnoea confused Kussmaul's breathing

local presentation of diabetic foot
A
swollen digit (sausage) swollen forefoot (boggy) tenderness ulcer with pus erythema crepitus in soft tissues (gas from organisms) pedal pulses may or may not be present

diagnosis of diabetic foot
A
FBC, CRP, glucose, blood cultures arterial blood gas urine dip ECG, CXR XR of foot wound swab septic protocol

management of diabetic foot
A
appropriate antibiotics
surgical debridement
