pyrexia tachycardia tachypnoea confusion Kussmaul's breathing
local features of diabetic foot
swollen affected digit swollen forefoot (boggy) tenderness ulcer with pus erythema patches of rapidly developing necrosis crepitus due to gas from organisms pedals pulses may be absent
diagnosis of diabetic foot
FBC, U&Es, CRP, coag, blood cultures, blood glucose arterial blood gas (DKA?) dipstick urine for ketones ECG and CXR XR foot, wound swab
management of diabetic foot
antibiotics
surgical debridement
what causes arterial ulcers
inadequate blood supply
