Consequence of insulin resistance that occurs at the level of skeletal muscle, liver and adipose tissue with different degree of B-cell impairment

Risk Factors

A
  1. Family History
  2. Ethnic Background (Native American, African American, Latino, Asian American, or Pacific Islander)
  3. Conditions associated with insulin resistance such as (1) acanthosis nigricans, (2) hypertension, (3) dyslipidemia or (4) PCOS
  4. History of maternal diabetes or mother with gestation diabetes when child was in utero

  1. Behavioral Changes (tearfulness, irritability, naughtiness)
  2. Confusion
  3. Slurred Speech
  4. Belligerence
  5. Diaphoresis

    > Anorexia

    > Vomiting
