what are some problems with insulin therapy?
A
- activation of the immune response with the production of antibodies, which can end up with inactivating insulin leading to increasing dose with time.
- local at injection site e.g. lipohypertrophy, bruising, rare allergy reaction
- weight gain
- hypoglycaemia

what is hypoglycaemia?
A
when the blood glucose level is less than 4mMol/L

what are the mild signs and symptoms of hypoglycaemia?
A
-palpitations, tremors, hunger and sweating, blurred vision and fatigue

what are the moderate signs and symptoms of hypoglycaemia?
A
-behaviour change; restless, agitation, drowsiness, slurred speech, confusion

what are the severe signs and symptoms of hypoglycaemia?
A
very agitated/aggressive, unconscious, seizures, coma

what are the causes of hypoglycaemia?
A
- stress
- heat
- alcohol
- delayed/missed meals
- incorrect dosing of insulin at night
