What is DHCP?

A

The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network management protocol used on UDP/IP networks whereby a DHCP server dynamically assigns an IP address and other network configuration parameters to each device on a network so they can communicate with other IP networks.
Port 67 and 68

Works on Discover, Offer, Request, Acknoladge.

What is a DHCP Starvation attack?

A

The DHCP starvation attack is an attack that targets DHCP servers whereby forged DHCP requests are crafted by an attacker with the intent of exhausting all available IP addresses that can be allocated by the DHCP server. Under this attack, legitimate network users can be denied service. This is a DoS attack

Blueprint for DHCP Starvation attack?

A

open yersinia from Kali cmd centre
Enter G command to get to Gui.
On GUI of Yersinia open DHCP tab.
Click launch attack
select send DISCOVER packets
Click OK
The tool then repeatedly sends requests until a DHCP server goes offline.
After you have starved DHCP server click launch attack
the select create rouge DHCP server and complete Attack permaeters.
