What is a receptive speech delay?
Delay in understanding speech
What is an expressive speech delay?
Delay in speaking and communicating
What is the difference between primary and secondary language delay?
Primary- no other difficulty (usually due to abuse/deprivation)
Secondary- hearing impairment, autism, cerebral palsy etc causing speech delay
What is the definition of global developmental delay?
Not reached 2 or more milestones in all areas of development eg. fine motor, gross motor, language, cognition, social)

What is the definition of a learning difficulty?
IQ >2 standard deviations below the mean
If 2-3= no pathological cause
If >3.5 = usually pathological cause
