What is intimacy?

A
  • As adolescents become more independent, they move away form their family structure and more towards their peers
  • As a result they begin to think, behave and model their physical appearance on theirs.
  • With this comes different relationships with the attraction to like minded peers.

What is identity?

A
  • With greater intimacy and independence, adolescents start to form their own identity.
  • As they move away form traditional family settings and experience more factors brought upon by their peers they start to develop and experiment wth different values, beliefs and indenttises.

What are beliefs?

A
  • Are a person’s sense of right or wrong. They can differ in intensity and power.
  • If a belief touches on an individuals self identity is usually stronger
  • Formations of beliefs:
    • you have a belief due to personal experience
    • beliefs commonly formed in this way have effect relationships
