Ijtihad of the Companions
encouraged the companions to exercise their ijtihad in order to train them and to teach them to be independent.
Preservation of Quran
The Quran was written during the lifetime of the Prophet.
The scribers of the Quran were Zaid bin Thabit, Ali bin Abi Talib, Uthman bin Affan, and some other companions.
Preservation of Hadith
As for the hadith, at the early stage of Islam, the Prophet disallowed his companions to record his sayings.
However, at a later stage, he allowed his sayings to be recorded.
Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Aus was one of the companions responsible for writing down the Prophet’s hadith.
