Why do LIC’s have high birth rates? State 2 reasons.
- Children are viewed as economic assets so get sent to work to earn money for the family.
- Many children die young in LIC countries due to lack of money, so parents have many in hope that some survive.
Why do HIC’s have low birth rates? State 2 reasons
- Children are very expensive and adults would rather spend money on themselves.
- Women are more empowered and focus on their careers.
What is life expectancy?
The average number of years people can expect to live.
What is GNI per capita? (Gross National Income)
This is the dollar value of a country’s final income in a year, divided by the population
What is death rate?
Number of deaths per 1000 of the population each year.
What is birth rate?
The numbers of babies born per 1000 of the population each year.
What is infant mortality rate?
The numbers of infants that die before their first birthday.
What is doctor density?
The numbers of doctors for every 1000 people each year.
What is adult literacy rate?
The percentage of adults age 15 and over who can read and write.
What is energy consumption?
The average amount of energy each person in a country uses.
