Gross domestic product per capita
The total value of all goods and services produced by a country per year per person.
Literacy rate
The percentage of people over 15 who can read and write
Birth rate
The number of babies born per 1000 people per year.
Life expectancy
The average number of years a person can be expected to live
Poverty line
The minimum income require to meet someone’s basic needs per day.
Infant mortality
The number of children per 1000 people who die before their first birthday.
Access to a safe water supply
The percentage of the population with access to an improved piped water supply within 1km.
PPP
Purchasing power parity. Shows what I will buy in different countries. For example, I’m lower income countries you can
HDI
It is a better way to measure development because it consist of one figure per country between 1 and 0 nit measures the four main indicators for each country averages.
Landlocked
When a country is surrounded by other countries. Not the sea.
Cash crop
Is a crop a company is sold abroad for money on large plantations.
Franks core periphery model
The diagram displays how resources are moved from developing (periphery) to the core which is developed.
Periphery countries
Produce cash crops, meaning they are dependent on the more developed countries for heir food imports.
