Development and gross anatomy of the vascular system Flashcards
what is the heart looking like after 26days
3 paired veins drain into the tubular heart
when does aorta partisioning happen
after the 8th week
when does heart delevopment begin?
on day 18 or 19 following
fertilisation.
where does heart delevopment begin?
from mesoderm
what is the cardiogenic area?
In the head end of the embryo the heart develops from a group of
mesodermal cells called the cardiogenic area.
how do endocardial tubes form
cardiogenic cords develop a hollow centre and become known as endocardial tubes
how do cardiogenic cords form
Signals from underlying endoderm cause the mesoderm in the cardiogenic areas to
form a pair of elongated strands called the cardiogenic cords.
what happens on day 21 following fertilization?
Lateral folding of the embryo causes the paired endocardial tubes to approach each
other and fuse into the primitive heart tube
what happens on day 22 following fertilization?
the primitive heart tube develops into five distinct regions and
begins to pump blood from tail end to head end.
what are the 5 distinct regions of the heart on day 22?
Sinus venosus Primitive atrium Primitive ventricle Bulbus cordis Truncus arteriosus
what does the Sinus venosus develop into
part of the right atrium (posterior wall)
coronary sinus
SAN.
what does the Bulbus cordis develop into
Develops into the right ventricle
what does the Primitive ventricle develop into
Gives rise to the left ventricle
what does the Primitive atrium develop into
part of the right atrium (anterior wall)
right auricle
part of the left atrium (anterior wall)
left auricle.
what does the Truncus arteriosus develop into
Gives rise to the ascending aorta and pulmonary trunk.
