Definition of DEVELOPMENT
The promotion of economic growth to bring about increased material and standard of living.
GDP
The monetary value of all goods and service over time.( gross domestic product)
GNP
GDP plus income and expenditure from foreign countries.( gross national product).
HDI
A composite static including life expectancy at birth, mean years of schooling and GROSS NATIONAL INCOME per capita. It is measured from 0-1.
Life expectancy
The average number of years a person in a country can be expected to live.
Birth rate
The number of live deaths per thousand of population per year.
Death rate
The number of deaths per thousand of population per year.
Adult literacy rate
The percentage of people aged over 15 who can read and .write
Number of doctors per 1000 people
The number of people per each doctor
Percentage in primary education
The percentage of children who attend fully primera education.
Things to think about=
- Freedom of speech
- Gender equality (same amount of literacy rates and employment)
- Distribution of wealth
- Unemployment
- Access of basic services( clean water)
- Access to technology
Life expectancy in MEDCs
- Highly developed health scares(which include :hospitals, medicine, vaccination saves killer diseases)
- hygiene(no spreading of disease)
- healthy nutrients and water
Literacy rates higher in MEDCs
- Knowledge of impacts (better jobs)
- Government has money to invest on education
- Gender equality
- Distribution of wealth
- No financial support
Birth rate higher in LEDCs
- No gender equality( some woman have no control of their bodies, men decide over them.
- No reproductive education
- social status
- Religion
- Lack of contraceptions
- Financial support
- Infant mortality
