Gross motor skills vs fine motor skills: + examples
Gross motor skills involve large muscle movement, where the precision of the movement is not as important to the successful execution of the skill. Ex run, jump throw
Fine motor skills require control of the smallest muscle groups of the body to achieve the skill outcome. Generally involve hand-eye coordination and a high degree of precision. Ex writing, spin bowling, rifle shooting.
Continuos/serial/discrete. + example
Continuous motor skills have no distinct beginning or end points. Start and finish is determines by performer, not by task.
Ex swimming and running
Serial skill comprise several discrete skills put together into a series. Ex triple jump, serving in tennis, gymnastics routine
Discrete ms have distinct starting and finishing point. Ex pitting in softball, kicking penalty in soccer, catching ball in cricket
