Q

Science requires faith.

A

“Just because the sun has risen every day of your life, there is no guarantee that it will rise tomorrow. The belief that it will - that there are indeed dependable regularities of nature - is an act of faith. but one which is indispensable to the progress of science.” - Paul Davies

Q

Why is the mathematical nature of the intelligibility of the universe remarkable?

A

1- Abstract mathematical concepts developed by pure mathematicians unconnected with their eventual application turn out to be of vital importance for branches of science. (Paul Davies)
2- There is no rational explanation for the enormous usefulness of mathematics in the natural sciences. It is an article of faith. (Eugene Wigner)
3- That superb theories could have arisen randomly leaving only the good ones as survivors. There must be some deep underlying reason. (Sir Roger Penrose) pg 61
