Highlight/Explain the importance of Customer identification in the success of a product.

A

Knowing your target market/user helps massively in the success of a product

-Market research, finds out the crucial background information such as age, gender, disposable income, residential location and recreational interests; impacting the products design and outcome.

-Research also identifies why customers are motivated to buy certain products, such as social and emotional needs, family needs, budget pressures and brand preferences.

Suggest why customers identification with products motivates them to buy a specific product

A

Customers location, for example contemporary small apartments may require space-saving, multifunctional furniture items. This fits with their identification as multiuse products are important to them to live adequately and fit their living habits and area.

Brand preferences, particularly in domestic items often people remain naturally trustworthy, untrustworthy with brands of products based off previous encounters with that brands products, it is important for companies to take into account this when designing as returning customers rely on the upholstery of that brands qualities in their products and the way the act.

Budget-aware customers may choose to do the majority of their shopping in discount supermarkets giving them more disposable income to spend on other areas they wish to.

Why is labelling important?

A

Labelling can be used to promote a brand or to attract a customers attentions (often with bright colours is more attractive to a customer).

Also crucial information can be addressed in labelling like nutritional information e.g. allergies, protein.
Use by dates- safety
and a BSI kitemark and CE market to indicate product meets safety standards for sale in Europe.

Why is packaging important?

A

Integral part of brand identity and association
Apple is a great example as its very minimalist packaging for products was revolutionary at the time.
Coco-Cola uses bottle design shape to become iconic for products to know exactly what is it immediately by its package design.

Why is Corporate identity important?

A

Is the branding used to present and image of a company to the public

Colour combinations, logos and typeset to create a “brand” and brand name

Customers are likely to return to a brand if a good experience occurred.

E.g. if a customer had bought comfortable trainers from a company they’d be more inclined to return buying more products from them.

Registered trademarks and patents protect the brands qualities and design from being nabbed by other rival companies.
