Design (content creation, page design & site layout) Flashcards

Clear and easy to use for every person
It also shouldn’t depend on Flash or anything similar. They take ages to load and requires that the user have it downloaded onto their computer.
What is best when it comes to navigating a website?
- Slide out menus (work on mobile devices)
- Sticky Menus
- Mega menus
What is not appealing when it comes to navigating a website?

Explain why Western websites are slightly different from others
In the Western World, we read from left to right. Our brains see the left-hand side of the page as the past and the right-hand side as the future. Sites like Amazon place their “add to cart” on the right hand side of the screen.
Why do we use white space?
Its used to give balance, proportion and contrast to a page. Lots of whites pace on a site makes it seem more elegant and upmarket. Also, whites pace between paragraphs makes the paragraphs easier to read.
What are four types of colour theory?
Monochromatic
- Variations in lightness and saturation of one colour.
- Easy on the eyes and has clean, elegant look
Analogous
- Colours that are adjacent to each other on the colour wheel
- One colour is used as a dominant colour while others are used to enrich the scheme
Complimentary
- Consists of two colours 180 degrees opposite one another on the wheel
Tradic
-Consists of three colours 120 degrees spaced out on the wheel
What are some typography rules for an appealing site?
- Fonts should be kept at a minimum so that visitors are not overwhelmed
- Sans serif fonts are easier to read on a webpage
- Contrast between text and background
- Size should be consistent and proportioned
