might make it cheaper, better at its function or nicer-looking-all things that will make products easier to sell

computers started off as mechanical adding machines which took up loads of room. Now you can buy a sleek, portable thats much faster and more powerful

The design brief; what kind of product is needed and why, how the product will be used and who the product is for target market.
what are designers influenced about?
the culture of the society
give an example where culture influences a product?
Japanese people usually eat at a lower table than others so a designer would have to be influenced by that culture

the aesthetic qualities of the product
