Descriptive Statistics Flashcards
Describes the summary of data (population)
Descriptive Statistics
Two main branches of Descriptive Statistics
- Measures of Central Tendency
- Measures of Variability
Examples of this measurement are the mean, median, mode, and percentile.
Measures of Central Tendency
Examples of this measurement are the range, standard deviation, and interquartile range.
Measures of Variability
It is also known as Average; are affected by extreme values
Mean
It is the most occurring item in the dataset.
Mode
Middle value when put in ascending or descending order.
Median
It divides the data in two equal parts when arranged in ascending or descending order.
Median
It divides data in 99 parts.
Percentile
It divides data in 4 parts.
Quartile
Difference between lowest and the highest value
Range
Range of middle 50% data
Interquartile Range
Formula of Interquartile Range
IQR = Q3-Q1
It is the square root of variance
Standard Deviation
