Descriptive Geometry Flashcards
Fold lines are:
Hinges between views next to one another.
Example of a fold line
H-F fold line or H-A fold line
Fold lines appear in:
edge view in views they separate
Fold lines are drawn:
dark and thin. They are labelled to identify the planes which they divide
Projection lines are used to:
project points from one view to another next to it
Projection lines are drawn:
faint and thin
Projection lines appear:
perpendicular to the fold line they cross
Object lines are used to:
describe the object
Descriptive geometry is:
a way to describe a 3d object more abstractly compared to orthographic views and describe geometry between objects in space
Descriptive geometry focuses on:
the points, lines, and planes which compose an object
True length means:
a view of the line where the line may be measured
When does true length occur:
in the view adjacent to where the lines is parallel to the fold line
Point view means:
a view of a line where the line appears as a point
Point view occurs:
when in two views back, the endpoints of the line are equidistant from the fold line / the true length of the line is perpendicular to the fold line
What does it mean when an area is true shape:
all the lines can measured directly and the angles, by extension can be as well
