Describing An Image Flashcards
What is the aim of this station?
To describe a picture to somebody who cannot see it and give them a really detailed idea of the picture. You could also have to describe it to someone who is blind. It tests your communication and observation skills.
What is the approach when describing a picture?
. Give a general idea of the picture
. What is the setting? The time of day? Time of year? Is there a specific object in the front?
. If there is a single object grabbing attention, describe it.
. If not, start from the top right corner and work your way down systematically, give views of everything.
. Summarise the overall impression. What is the overall emotion of the picture?
What should you not do?
. Don’t be too specific at the beginning, just give an overall look first
. Don’t pick up on details of individual people
. Don’t make assumptions say stuff like ‘could be’ or ‘probably’
. Don’t explain too much about what the image shows
