Describe cloud concepts: Describe cloud computing Flashcards
What is cloud computing?
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services, such as virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking, over the internet using a pay-as-you-go pricing model.
What are the basic services provided by all cloud providers?
Compute power and storage.
How does cloud computing save costs?
By enabling a pay-as-you-go model, avoiding upfront costs, and scaling resources as needed.
What is the shared responsibility model?
A framework that defines the division of responsibilities between the cloud provider and the customer based on the service model (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
In the shared responsibility model, what is always the customer’s responsibility?
Managing data, devices connecting to the cloud, and user accounts and identities.
In the shared responsibility model, what is always the cloud provider’s responsibility?
Physical datacenters, physical networks, and infrastructure security.
How does responsibility differ in IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS?
IaaS: Customer manages most resources.
PaaS: Responsibility is shared more evenly.
SaaS: Provider manages almost everything except user data and access.
What is a public cloud?
A cloud model where resources are shared across multiple organizations and managed by a third-party provider.
What is a private cloud?
A cloud model dedicated to a single organization, either on-premises or hosted by a provider.
What is a hybrid cloud?
A cloud model that combines public and private clouds to allow data and applications to be shared between them.
What is a multi-cloud model?
A scenario where multiple public cloud providers are used simultaneously, either for different features or as part of a migration strategy.
What is Azure Arc?
A set of technologies for managing resources across public clouds, private clouds, and hybrid environments.
What is the Azure VMware Solution?
A service that allows organizations to run VMware workloads in Azure with seamless integration and scalability.
What is the difference between CapEx and OpEx?
CapEx: Upfront costs for physical infrastructure.
OpEx: Ongoing costs for services, such as cloud computing.
How does the consumption-based model work in cloud computing?
Customers pay only for the IT resources they use, scaling resources up or down as needed without paying for unused capacity.
