Describe Cloud Concepts Flashcards
What is cloud computing?
the delivery of computing services over the internet
What are the benefits of cloud computing?
- It is not restricted by physical infrastructure the same way a traditional data center is.
- Easily Scalable - It can expand as needed.
- 24x7 Access
- Cost Effective - Pay as you go (PAYG)
What are some common computing services?
include common IT infrastructure such as virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking. Cloud services also expand the traditional IT offerings to include things like Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI).
What is computing power?
How much processing power
What is storage?
The volume of data you can store
What is shared responsibility?
Responsibility shared between CSP and consumer for the security and management of service.
Which cloud service type places the most reponsibilty on the consumer?
IaaS - Infrastructure as a Service
Which cloud service type places the least reponsibilty on the consumer?
SaaS - Software as a Service
Which cloud service type is a middle groud for shared reponsibilty?
PaaS - Paltform as a Service
Regardless of the cloud service type what are some things a consumer will always be reponsible for?
- The information and data stored in the cloud
- Devices that are allowed to connect to your cloud (cell phones, computers, and so on)
- The accounts and identities of the people, services, and devices within your organization
Regardless of the cloud service type what are some things a CSP will always be reponsible for?
- The physical datacenter
- The physical network
- The physical hosts
In a IaaS service what is the consumer reponsible for?
Information and data, Device, Account and identities, identity and directory infrastructure, apps, network controls, OS
In a IaaS service what is the CSP reponsible for?
Physical host, physical network, physical datacenter
In a PaaS service what is the consumer reponsible for?
Information and data, Device, Account and identities,
Shared - identity and directory infrastructure, apps, network controls
In a PaaS service what is the CSP reponsible for?
Physical host, physical network, physical datacenter, OS,
Shared - identity and directory infrastructure, apps, network controls
In a SaaS service what is the consumer reponsible for?
Information and data, Device, Account and identities
Shared- identity and directory infrastructure
In a SaaS service what is the CSP reponsible for?
Apps, Network controls, OS, Physical host, physical network, physical datacenter,
Shared- identity and directory infrastructure
What are the main cloud service types?
IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
Define the main cloud models?
Private, Public, Hybrid, Multi-Cloud
What is a private cloud model?
Cloud computing services offered over the internet or over a private internal network to only select users and not the general public
What is a public cloud model?
Cloud computing services offered over the internet by a third-party provider and available to anyone who wants to purchase them
What is a hybrid cloud model?
A hybrid cloud is a computing environment that uses both public and private clouds in an inter-connected environment
What is a multi-cloud model?
In a multi-cloud scenario, you use multiple public cloud providers. In a multi-cloud environment you deal with two (or more) public cloud providers and manage resources and security in both environments.
What is Azure Arc?
Azure Arc simplifies governance and management by delivering a consistent multicloud and on-premises management platform.
Describe the consumption-based model
There are two types of expences in consumption-based model; Capital expenditure and Operational expenditure. Based on a Pay as you go PAYG
What is CapEx?
Capital expenditure (CapEX) - typically a one-time, up-front expenditure to purchase or secure tangible resources.
What is OpEx?
Operational expenditure (OpEx) - spending money on services or products over time.
What type of expenditure does cloud computing fall under?
OpEx
What are the benefits of a consumption baed model?
- No upfront costs.
- No need to purchase and manage costly infrastructure that users might not use to its fullest potential.
- The ability to pay for more resources when they’re needed.
- The ability to stop paying for resources that are no longer needed.
