Describe Azure Management and governance Flashcards
Describe the six factors that can affect costs in Azure
RCM GNS
Resource Type: Costs are resource specific
Consumption: Pay as you go pricing model
Maintenance: Ie monitoring for unused resources and shutting those down that are not being used.
Geography: The same resource can cost different amounts in different areas
Network traffic: Some inbound data transfers are free. Cost for outbound data is affected by billing zones.
Subscription: The subscription type affects cost.
Compare the Pricing calculator and the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculator
Pricing calculator: A tool that helps you estimate the cost of Azure products
TCO: The TCO Calculator lets you create a customized business case to justify migration to Azure. You have the option to modify any assumptions so the model accurately reflects your business. The result is a detailed report that shows how much money you can save by moving to Azure.
Describe the five functions of the Azure Cost Management and Billing tool
RADBR
Reporting: Billing reports
Alerting - when costs exceed limits
Data enrichment
Budgets- set spend budget
Recommendations - cost recommendations
Cost management: Describe the purpose of tags
Provides metadata for Azure resources
organizes resources into a taxonomy
consists of a name-value pair (ie department: marketing; environment: production)
very useful for billing info
Describe the purpose of Azure Blueprints
Allows to deploy test or development environments quickly. Creates copys (or blueprints) of existing environment
Describe the purpose of Azure Policy (2 items)
Evaluates and identifies Azure resources that do not comply with your compliance policies.
Provides built-in policy and initiative definitions, under categories such as storage, networking, complete, ect.
Describe the purpose of resource locks
Protect Azure resources from accidental deletion or modification. Can manage locks at the subscription, resource group or individual resource levels.
Describe the purpose of the Service Trust Portal
The Service Trust Portal provides information, tools, and other resources about Microsoft security, privacy, and compliance practices.
Describe the Azure portal
web-based. You can manage your Azure subscription using a graphical user interface.
Describe Azure Cloud Shell, including Azure CLI and Azure PowerShell
Azure CLI and Azure PowerShell are command-line tools that enable you to create and manage Azure resources.
Describe the purpose of Azure Arc
Extends Azure management tools to hybrid (on-Premises) and multi-cloud resources.
Describe Azure Resource Manager
A management layer that enables you to create, update, and delete resources in your Azure subscription
Describe Azure Resource Manager templates (ARM templates)
JSON files that can be used to create and deploy Azure infrastructure without having to write programming commands.
Describe the purpose of Azure Advisor
Analyzes deployed Azure resources and makes recommendations to optimize Azure deployments. Makes recommendations regarding:
CORPS
Cost
Operational Excellence
Reliability
Performance
Security
For example, if a VM has not been used in several days, Azure Advisor will ask if its needed.
Describe Azure Service Health (3 items)
A collection of services that informs of:
(GSR)
General Azure status (global view of the health of all Azure services),
Service health (services and regions)
Resource health (provides information about the health of individual cloud resources).
