Q

Describe a METHOD used to collect information in the physical factor
(4)

A

1 i done a GOB doing 4v4 cross court games of basketball (1)
2 while playing these games they were recorded with an ipad and shown in the classroom (2)
3 while in the classroom i was handed a GOB and filled it out collecting information on my preformance
3.5 (describe the gob i.e very effective, fairly effective, ineffectivehest, bounce, shoulder passes, set shot, jump shot, lay up, right hand dribble, left hand dribble and rebound)
4 while watching i would tally mark my skills used in the gob putting it in the appropriate criteria i then proceeded to calculate my success rate and identify my strengths and weaknesses

Q

Describe a method used to collect information in the mental factor
(4)

A

1 i done a MRS (mental health reflection sheet) i completed this by using 4v4 games of basketball and afterwards filling out the sheet
remember TO DESCRIBE the sheet!
2 upon completing a game of basketball i would find a isolated space in the hall from others.
2.5 i would then fill the table out this consisted off 4 different mental factors including (mental toughness, level of arousal, decision making and focus) there was a scale for each factor going 1-7 depending on my performance i would scale myself accordingly 1-being the lowest,7-being the highest and add a comment on how i felt
4 repeat this process 4times to identify my mental weaknesses and strengths i done this by averaging the score for each by adding the number together and dividing by the games i played (4)

Q

Describe an development approach used to develop the physical factor
(4)

A

1.An approach used to develop the physical factor is opposed repetition drills for lay ups
we carried this approach out by working with a partner and using a half court and standing parallel to each other roughly 6 feet apart and facing towards the net.My partner on the left would start with the ball (1)
2.My partner would bounce pass the ball in front of me for me to run and get while this is happening my partner would attempt to close me down
3 once getting the ball i would attempt the score a lay up with whatever hand i was training either left or right while my partner was attempting to shut me down
4 After the lay up me and my partner would do this for 3 sets of 5 both

Q

Describe an development approach used to develop the mental factor
(4)

A

1.An approach i used to develop the mental factor is conditioned games this was used to improve my decision making
to carry this out i done 4v4 games of basketball with similar ability (1)
2 the matches were all cross court lasting 5 minutes each
3 there are various conditions that can be used one is not being able to dribble this means that when receiving
the ball i only had the option of passing or shooting the ball this meant a wrong decision would give away possession
4 if i failed the condition it would instantly result in the other team getting possession and potentially a goal scoring opportunity

Q

Describe strengths and weaknesses for the physical factor
(2)

A

STRENGTH
after completing my GOB I identified my chest pass as my strength in the physical factor. I know this because my percentage success rate was 75%. When I performed my chest pass, I held the ball with both hands at chest height and stepped forward, extended my arms pushing the ball in a straight line from my chest.this resulted in an accurate pass

after completing my GOB i managed to identify my layup as my area of development as i had a low success rate of 20%.Often i did not drive my knee up when preforming the lay-up and used to much power hitting the ball of the backboard this resulted in me often missing the target

Q

Describe strengths and weaknesses for the mental factor

A

STRENGTH
After completing the MSRS i identified my strength to be Focus.i know this to be true because i managed to average a rating of 6 out of .this is because i managed to focus on the game for the full duration and play at my best

Weakness
After completing my MSRS i identified my area of work to be decision making i know this because i averages a score of 3 .this was because i would often dribble the ball instead of passing this meant that i often lost possession of the ball

Q

Explain the suitability/appropriateness/etc of collecting information in the physical factor

A

one method i used to collect information in the physical factor was the GOB(general observation schedule

1 ‘I used the GOB because it was practical as the table was very clearly laid out with easy to understand headings. This meant when inputting information into the gob it was easy and fast this as a result meant that all my results were accurate for my performance

2‘I also used the GOB because it was practical as it was very easy to interpret my data. This meant that i could identify my strengths and my area of development easily and fast so i could then plan a FOB( Focused observation schedule) and improve at a fast pace

3‘Another reason why I used the GOB was because it was valid as it involved me playing against opponents of a similar ability. This meant that i could play at my normal level and get a real gauge on my array of skills and give me a true concept of my capabilities

Another reason why i used the gob was because it presented me with information across all my skills in basketball. This meant that I could easily plan a PDP on my specific weakness and then as a result use an appropriate approach tailored to my weakness

Q

Explain the suitability/appropriateness/etc of collecting information in the mental factor

A

One method I used to collect information on the mental factor was the mental self-reflection sheet (MSRS)

1‘I used the Mental Self Reflection Sheet (MSRS) because it was practical as the table was very clearly laid out with easy to understand headings. This meant that i would have no trouble completing the mental self reflection sheet due to its easy nature this would provide accurate results for my mental performance

2‘I also used the MSRS because I gained both quantitative data and qualitative data at the end of test.as a result i could easily identify my mental strength and weakness and then compare new data to this during my resit of my PDP furthermore this data is trustworthy because its completed only by me and my view on my mental skills. This could then lead me to plan a PDP on my weaknesses

3 Another reason why I used the MSRS was it acted as a permanent record. Meant that I was able to compare previously collected data to new data. this then further allowed me to compare my data to see if i am improving or not judging by my mental self reflection levels .I could then tailor it or change it if i am not improving

4lastly i used the MSRS because it was completed swiftly and straight after each game. This was helpful because it meant that all the information I was inputting was accurate as I was not having to wait a long time to fill the sheet out. If I was to wait, I may forget how I felt after each game meaning my data would be inaccurate meaning I may identify a weakness that is not entirely true

Q

explain the suitability of one approach used to develop physical factors. (4)

A

one approach i used to develop my skills in the physical factor was gradual build up

1Firstly, this approach breaks a skill down into smaller parts. This means that due to the skill being complex to preform the performer can take it in small stages this means that the performer wont feel overwhelmed and the performer can take their time honing their skills at their own pace (1)

2Secondly, the approach can be changed or adapted easily. This means that if a performer is finding a particular level to easy they can advance until they find a level suitable alternatively if the performer is finding a stage hard they can regress as many levels as need beThis means that the approach can be tailored to the performer current level of learning

3Another reason why GBU could be used is that the approach can be made specific to the performer’s stage of learning If an performer is an associative learner they can choose a harder level to start at since they are further along in learning the skill however for example if an learner is only at the cognitive stage they would start at a earlier level of learning compared to the associative. This would also keep levels of motivation high as the work experienced would be suitably challenging.

4Lastly, the approach is easy to measure and carry out. the approach is only five stages with each one getting progressively harder so as a result measuring progress is easy as the performer only needs to get five consecutive baskets to move on to the next level. If a specific level is taking longer than expected then the performer knowns what area of their layup they need to work on

18
Q

explain the suitability of one approach used to develop mental factors.

A

one approach i found suitable to use to develop the mental factor was condition games

1This approach was used as it is specific and related to game situations. This means that the individuals team or himself can impose conditions that specifically train a area of development. By doing this the learner can improve their area of development at a faster pace For example if an individuals weakness was decision making and dribbling the ball to much they can impose a passing or shooting the ball only condition into the game in order for them to improve their decision making

2it is motivating as it is game like and competitive. This means that the performer is more likely to work harder to develop. In addition, the performer is continuing to develop their performance in games which may positively impact on their whole performance. As they are getting use to game like situations

3this approach can be changed and adapted easily. This means that the session the performer is doing is always tailored around them and their weakness. If the performer is finding a condition to hard they can simply adjust it to make it easier similarly if an performer finds it to easy they can make their condition harder. For example if a performer is finding not dribbling the ball to hard they could add only being able to take a step with the ball, this also means levels of motivation will be high for the learner as they will not get bored

Lastly, the approach is easy to carry out and monitor. This means that the performer can easily carry the approach out without much difficulty. This means that the performer can spend maximum time working on their area of development. Moreover, using multiple conditions over a number of games will enable to performer to check progress by using quantitative monitoring methods.
