Silver sulfadiazine (Flamazene®) is a topical anti-infective used to prevent or treat infection at the site of second- and third-degree burns. Adverse effects include pain, burning, and itching. It should not be used for patients who are allergic to sulfonamide medications.

What is acyclovir (Zovirax®) used to treat? Does it cure the infection? What are common adverse effects?
Acyclovir (Zovirax®) is a topical antiviral drug used to treat initial and recurrent herpes simplex 1 and 2 and human papillomavirus infections. It does not cure viral skin infections but may reduce healing time and pain. Common adverse effects are stinging, itching, and rash.
What are lidocaine and prilocaine used for topically? What is an example of a combination product?
Lidocaine and prilocaine are used topically as local anaesthetics to reduce pain or pruritus associated with insect bites, sunburn, and poison ivy exposure, and to numb the skin before a painful injection. EMLA® is a combination product containing lidocaine and prilocaine.
