What is Nummular Eczema
Coin shaped eczema that comes in multiples
KOH negative!
What does Pityriasis alba look like
poorly defined, hypopigmented, scaly patches on the cheeks
What is Pityriasis alba
Usually asymptomatic, type of atopic dermatitis of the face
- Usually in young children with darker skin
- Presents in spring and summer when skin tans
- Will fade with time
How do you treat Pityriasis alba
- Moisturize and use sunscreen
- If they do not work, Low dose topical steroid (1) or topical calcineurin inhibitor (2)
What is irritant contact dermatitis
Inflammatory reaction in skin 2/2 exposure to a substance that causes an eruption
What does irritant contact dermatitis look like
Varies based on agent erythema, chapped skin, dryness, fissuring Pruritis Pain Edema, exudate, ttp Painful bullae
What is Contact dermatitis
Inflammatory reaction of skin to irritating agent
Shows up in geometric distribution depending on what touched the skin
-Red, irritated, scaly skin
What do bed bugs cause
wound, welted lesions similar to hives
-If you are not exposed, they go away!
What do flea and mosquito bites look like
Tiny round hives
-pruritic, but not toxic
What is Pityriasis rosea often mistaken for
Secondary Syphillis
What does a viral exanthum usually look like
Generic morbilliform rash on the trunk, spreads to the extremities, then goes away
What does hot tub folliculitis look like
Little red bumps or pustules showing up where your swim suit was
-Tender papules likely from chemicals
What organism is associated with hot tub folliculitis
Pseudomonas!
What is a dermatofibroma
small, brown papule that shows up likely 2/2 a previous trauma (vaccination, injection, bug bite, etc)
-NOT malignant
What does a dermato fibroma look like
Firm, does not stick out of skin
-If you pinch it, it dimples like a button hole
What is a Lipoma
Benign fatty growth in Sub Q tissues that resembles a cyst -Can hurt if they have blood vessels around them (angiolipoma)
What is an epidermal inclusion cyst
Encapsulated cyst stemming from a follicle, with a central punctu,
How do you treat an epidermal inclusion cyst
Excise the entire thing, sac too! or it will grow back
What is a cherry angioma
small red ump associated with old age
do NOT blanch
dont need to treat. benign

Skin tag! related to old age
can just snip them off
What is dermatosis papulosis nigra
Morgan freeman little dark raised moles
Often on dark skinned women
What is Stucco keratosis
usually over ankles
Lighter than a regular SK but still a version of them
What is sebaceous hyperplasia
proliferation of sebaceous glands on the skin
What is a keloid
Raised scar 2/2 trauma, scar tissue lies down outside of where the cut was
