Derm Flashcards
What are the Four Types of Human Tissue?
Muscle
Nervous
Epithelial
Connective
What are types of Cell Junctions
Tight
Adherens
Desmosomes
Gap
Hemidesmosomes
What do tight junctions do?
Form barrier against water and antigens passing between individual epithelial cells.
What do adheren junctions do
Cell-cell adhesions continuously assembled & disassembled so cells can respond changes in their microenvironment.
What do desmosome junctions do
Form stable adhesive junctions between cells.
What do gap junctions do
Allows various molecules & electrical signals to pass freely between cells
What do hemidesmosome junctions do
Allows various molecules & electrical signals to pass freely between cells
What are the three layers of Epithelial Tissue
Apical layer
Basal layer
Basement membrane
How are epithelial tissues classified?
Morphology
Stratification
