Give a strengths of CBT
PETC (C=counter point)
P: empowers client in self-help techniques
E: more active than taking antidrepressants, make client feel they’re in control
T: long-term treatment, client can use after therapy
C: combination of antidepressants (passive) and self-help techinques (active) is better according to interactionists
Give a weakness of CBT?
PET
P: too present focussed, past needs to be explored
E: may be a link between traumatic experience in childhood and clients current depression
T: present focus>ignore important aspect of depression
