Before age 10. Persistent irritable & angry mood.
Angry outbursts at least 3X week.
Comorbid: ADHD & MDD
Course: Chronic, risk of progressing to MDD, Dysthymic, Anxiety

Unipolar depression/Anxiety: SSRI & Stimulant
Bipolar: Atypical antipsychotics & Mood stabilizer
Plus CBT
Major depressive disorder dx/prevalence
Highest lifetime prevalence of any psych d/o
Females, Hispanic/Black, Divorced/no close relt
Dx: 5 sx X 2 weeks including:
1. Depressed mood OR
2. Loss of interest/pleasure
Onset with stressful event
MDD Beck’s Cognitive Triad
- Negative view on self
- Environment is hostile & demanding
- Expects suffer & failure in the future
