A

A deposition landform in which an island is attached to the mainland by a narrow piece of land such as a spit or bar. Once attached, the island is then known as a tied island.

Cuspate Foreland

A

Geographical features found on coastlines and lakeshores that are created primarily by longshore drift. Formed by accretion of sand and shingle, they extend outwards from the shoreline in a triangular shape.

The wavelength of a wave is the horizontal distance between two crests or troughs. For wind generated ocean waves, it can vary from a few tens of centimetres to hundreds of metres.
