Frank - west systematically + deliberately keep countries deprived underlying cause is poverty peripheral, semi-peripheral and core nations developed Periphery are exploited for cheap labour, minerals and soils
Established through slavery and colonialism - sustained through neo colonialism

colonisation = scarred economic landscape dominated by low revenue economic systems e.g agricultural mono-culturalism

Senegal - Nuts as main export and is a cash crop (ground nuts aren’t native)
Mazambique (Rosling) - ex portugese colony with extreme poverty, poor health systems, no infrastructure - sesame seeds cash crop
Ebola - health risks in developing worlds (lags behind the west)
