Frank - west systematically + deliberately keep countries deprived underlying cause is poverty peripheral, semi-peripheral and core nations developed Periphery are exploited for cheap labour, minerals and soils

colonisation constructed false nations - colonisation = underdeveloped counties == couldn’t develop because of limited resources
colonisation = scarred economic landscape dominated by low revenue economic systems e.g agricultural mono-culturalism
