Why might it be useful to take a radiograph of a suspected dentoalveolar surgical infection?
A
To eliminate the presence of residual roots or bony sequestra

What is appropriate management of infection after dentoalveolar surgery?
A
Hourly wound irrigation with saline or 0.2% chlorhexidine is helpful.
Abx only to be used if systemic Sx or immunocompromised.

What is alveolar osteitis?
A
Dry socket: pain in and around an extraction site that increases in severity in days 1-4 and resolves spontaneously in 2-3 weeks.
