Dental Anatomy Flashcards
only tooth w/ pulp wider MD than FL
Max Cent Inc
The permanent anterior tooth whose pulp chamber has the greatest faciolingual dimension
Max K9
primary, secondary, tertiary dentin?
Primary: laid down during tooth formation, ends when root development is complete.
Secondary: Formed AFTER root formation and throughout life
Tertiary: Laid in response to trauma/injury (caries)
Cervical Line
The cervical line of a tooth separates the anatomical crown and root
Largest incisal/occlusal embrasure
Max lat inc & K9
smallest incisal embrasure
btwn mand centrals
Max Molar root size order
PALATAL root is largest and longest, followed in size by the MB root and the DB root
Largest cusp of mand 1st molar
MB
Smallest cusp of mand 1st molar
D
Bennett movement
Bennett shift
Bennett angle
o Ben Movement: L & R condylar motion caused by lateral movement of mandible
o Ben shift: lateral movement of mandible towards the working side during lateral excursion
o Ben angle: the angle obtained after the non-working side condyle has moved anteriorly & medially. (the flatter the cusp, the greater the side shift
of root canals in Max 2nd molar
1 root canal per root (3 total)
of root canals in mand 1st molar
2 root canals in mesial root, 1 in distal root (3 total)
of root canals in mand 2nd molar
2 root canals in mesial root, 1 in distal root (3 total)
Location of height of contours?
the buccal and lingual heights of contours are located near the CERVICAL 3RD of all teeth
except: the lingual surface of posterior teeth (which is located in the MIDDLE 3rd)
What is Gemination? and How does it occur?
gemination: a dental anomalies where there’s ONE crown, DOUBLE in width, ONE root, ONE pulp chamber.
Happens bc a tooth bud splits in 2
