What are the advantages of boxing an impression prior to pouring a master cast?
- Boxing an impression produces a container into which stone can be poured, resulting in a denser cast.
- Permits the use of a mounting plate which in turn the master cast to repositioned accurately have been cured.
- Eliminates any risks of the stone pulling away from the impression which may happen when an impression is inverted
Name three techniques for pouring a master cast.
- Boxing

What is the purpose of mounting plates?
Used on the base of master casts to permit their removal and accurate replacement on an articulator during denture construction.
What is demastication?
Physiologic wear on teeth as food is crushed.
What is attrition?
Sharply demarcated wear on teeth resulting from friction caused by movement with the empty mouth.
What is artificial abrasion?
Wearing down of hard dental substances as a result of artificial external factors.
What is generalized abrasion?
Heavy wear on occlusal surfaces with typical lingual inclination of the occlusal surfaces in large mandibles, palatal inclination.

Worn areas on natural teeth caused by abrasion.

The place where the roots of teeth fork or separate, taking different paths from one another.
